At George Freeman School, learning is our top priority. Student success in all subject areas is taken seriously and teachers are constantly formatively assessing students to identify areas of strength and growth so that teaching and learning can be tailored to best meet student needs. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 have elementary generalist teachers. Students enrolled in grades 6 through 9 have subject specialist teachers.
In addition to the traditional core subjects, a number of options are offered for our Junior High students. French as a second language, Entrepreneurship, Foods, Outdoor Education/Environment and Sustainability, Art, Robotics, and Fitness are just a few of the classes available for students.
George Freeman School is also excited to offer Sports Academies in soccer, baseball, and fastball. These programs are optional and run during the school day, with a focus on skill development and teamwork. No previous experience in a sport is required to join an Academy. Recently, we have also added a Music Academy, providing students the opportunity to take private piano lessons during the school day. There is a fee to participate in Falcon Academies.
The George Freeman School Falcons participate in a variety of extracurricular sports at the Junior High level. Cross country running, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and track and field are offered. A number of other athletic and non-athletic clubs such as Falcon Council, Run Club, Book Club, Cooking and Catering, and Robotics run during lunch and after school for students of various ages to participate in. Details of exactly which clubs will be running and the commitment to participate will be available once school begins each fall. Students are encouraged to speak with their teachers if there is a club that they would like to see set up at George Freeman School!
